GoPro live underwater 1080p feed to Garmin 8612 chartplotter

Progress report: Not going so well with the GoPro Hero 9 or Hero 12. The Media Mod is problematic. Several issues that don't have solutions. No underwater case available for camera with Media Mod. Media Mod can't be remoted because of special cable, won't charge or power camera with Media Mod. I...

    Considering painting vs. Gel coat

Need clarification. When you say "paint is rather shot" do you mean paint or gelcoat? Refinishing the hull and having it look good will come down to proper preparation. If the paint or gelcoat is not adhered well its going to have to be sanded off and filled. I called several glass guys about...

    Considering painting vs. Gel coat

I have a 1997 268 Islander that I did a big makeover two years ago. AwlCraft 2000 Brightside Off White Revisited is what I call "Faded Grady White". Excellent match. Hull done in a custom AwlCraft 2000 color. I did all my own work. Never painted before. Came out great. Paint is not for everyone...

Electronics Recommendations for GW 235 Freedom

Put the best on the boat. The 9219 is the latest and best equipment. It's clearly better than my 8612/8610 dual display combo which wouldn't fit anyway. Go for it. I have an unlimited budget too, relative to the size of my boat. Eventually a version of the 9219 will find it's way into my...

Im replacing my 265 Express Fuel Tanks!!!!! Pic heavy

I found that when the deck hatches get waterlogged they ooze plywood glue. This sticks to the top of the tanks and creates a great environment for corrosion.

    Captain Grady iPad app

I looked at the Captain Grady app on GW site. Looks like they have an app that is for information like owners manuals and posting. https://www.gradywhite.com/explore/grady-owners/captain-grady/

    Captain Grady iPad app

The app is free. I use it primarily for updating my Garmin chartplotter and mapping. I have not tested it with the Yamaha units. Let us know how it works out.

Im replacing my 265 Express Fuel Tanks!!!!! Pic heavy

That is a pretty ugly hole! I never saw a tank that bad. Be sure to pad the tank from the bilge. You don't want water trapped in contact with the tank. I did mine last summer. Look at this for tips. https://www.greatgrady.com/threads/268-islander-fuel-tank-replacement.36637/

    Replacing fuel lines

I would be planning to deal with the fuel tanks and do all the hoses/lines at that time. Did my 1997 Islander last Summer. No leaks but it was about time.

    3 blade Vs. 4 blade - thoughts

I agree with Ky. Call Ken at PropGods.com. Have your performance numbers handy. There is a huge misconception about going to a 4-blade and dropping pitch reducing your WOT speed. If you are not turnings the props properly you don't have that speed anyway! Ken changed mine and it was a game...

Electronics Recommendations for GW 235 Freedom

I run a 8610xsv up top and a 8612xsv at the helm. 9212 won't fit at the helm as is. I could fit a 9219 if I eliminated the old Yamaha gauges. I would have to re-sculpture the dash. Run the engines on the Garmin's. Lower panel and switch panel were replaced this summer with NewWire carbon fiber...

Electronics Recommendations for GW 235 Freedom

The GPSMAP 9000 units do not offer a "xsv "versions so you will need to add a black box sounder depending on what your needs are. I'm using the ClearVu, SideVue and Chirp GT51M-TH transducer.

Electronics Recommendations for GW 235 Freedom

I'm a all Garmin boat. 8612xsv/8610xsv, GMR18 Fathom radar, GPS 24xd, GT51M-TH transducer, Fusion stereo. ICom VHF. The Garmin 9000 series would be a great choice. 4K resolution and great performance. Won't fit in my boat. Not sure if two would fit in yours. I prefer to have two screens. With...

GoPro live underwater 1080p feed to Garmin 8612 chartplotter

Starting a thread here to document my live underwater camera. This is my Winter project for fishing in clear water in the Keys. I searched for cameras and came up nothing I liked. The GoPro is a high quality inexpensive camera but it's really an action camera. It can be adapted to work but isn't...

New Hardtop on my 1988 Seafarer

I see a number of posts here for members looking for used hardtops for older boats. Highly unlikely they will find one in any decent shape but they don't want to hear it. You made the right choice to have it made. Two years ago I took on the project to refinish my 25 year old hardtop. Edge...

    Yamaha water pump

Yes - replace the complete water pump. It's a standard Yamaha replacement kit. Every 3 or so years. The impellers take a set, harden up and get brittle. Not a bad idea to replace thermostat too. The two I had fail stuck "open" and caused a lower temp reading than the other engine.
