Decided to paint the horn before installing it. Awlgrip primer and paint. Boshield interior metal. We'll see. Bought the

    Electronics hatch switch

Check owners manual. Available on GW web site. Are you sure you have the right switch? Should be a DPDT (on)/off/(on) momentary sprung so it returns to center. Motor connects to common center pins (2 & 5). If it runs the wrong way flip the pins. Wiring on either side reverses polarity (1 to 6...

Where's the Wood in 94 Spirit Transom

Get inside there with a camera. Should only go to outboard stringers. That transom doesn’t look that bad (yet!). It’s the transom to stringer bond you really have to address. That gives the transom support to keep it from tearing out under power. Difficult to address without opening it up.

    2004 257 Advance overheating (Yamaha 150's)

I have Yamaha F150's from 2006 with 2,300 hours on them. Regularly flush (everyday I use it). Telltale always working. A few thermostats and water pump rebuilds over the years. Motors run like new. I'm not a mechanic but I'm surprised there isn't something more that can be done. Pull all the...

    1999 Adventure 208 Hull Problems

My boat is 25 years old. I did the makeover myself. I couldn't find anyone to do the work and it would have too expensive. This is my last boat. It does everything I want. I'm also fortunate to have the option to fish on some interesting high end boats in places my boat can't get to.. If you...

    1999 Adventure 208 Hull Problems

You have lots of options! But seriously - GW used plywood in the deck and hatches. The hatch is easy to repair. Deck not so much. May be able to find someone here that has repaired deck on GG site. Not sure how handy you are but there is a lot of DIY repair you could do. The finish may not...

    1999 Adventure 208 Hull Problems

Your issues are easy to see. You going to have a difficult time selling it or wind up giving it away. The cracking is an indicator that the transom is moving. It likely won't fall off anytime soon but it's working. Is the "soft deck" a hatch or is it the deck?

    Fresh water tank filling issues.

Doesn't sound like a vent problem. Maybe it's full. Does the pump work? Can you get fresh water to pump out? If so empty the tank and fill it.

    330 Express Speaker Replacement

You could buy a few hole saws and a mandrel. The smaller bit fits inside the old opening and the larger bit is you new opening. You have to be careful to get everything turning and slowly cutting. Works like a charm when my holes need to be enlarged. Jigsaw works too but not as neat.

    Fuel issue

Older fuel lines sometimes separate from the inside wall. They will close up like a clogged artery from the engine fuel pump vacuum. I would change ALL the fuel lines out with new ethanol resistant lines. Cheap insurance. Don't over analyze it - just do it. As for the sand the filters are doing...

    Raw water pumps

I sucked a squid up into my washdown pump once. Completely contained inside the hose. As far as warranty you may be able to use it. Warranty depends on the model. 1 to 3 years. Xylem owns Jabsco. Contact them for return. They have been good to me on warranty repairs.

Shurflo Blaster washdown pump. Works great. Lives in the bilge. Lasts 7 years or so. Throw them out and replace with same pump. No mounting drama - screw holes, hoses, outlet positioning.

    manual to electric

My Islander is a 1997. Toilet has a manual Jabsco hand-pump to evacuate the bowl. Electric pump may have been an option or it was installed later. This pump only empties the bowl into the on-board holding tank (in compartment behind the bowl). There should be a Groco in-tank macerator pump that...

    Fuel Tank gage issues

The bottom bar is sold when the sending unit is at 1/8 of a tank and starts flashing below that. Just remember that when you are at the point of the gauge flashing and you are on plane you are in the danger zone. When you come off plane you may (I have) stalled the engine out. It's possible you...

    Fuel Tank gage issues

My fuel tank gauge is reasonably accurate. When it starts flashing the tank is very low. Gauges are affected by the attitude of the boat. If you are bow high all the fuel runs to the back of the tank and will give you higher readings. When you come off plane and level out (you might even go...
