Happy new owner GW 226 seafarer

Congratulations on the new boat You might want to check with Grady on the F225 or F250. I had a 1985 and Grady advised against the 4 stroke because of added torque on the stern. They suggested to go with and HPDI. Not sure what year they changed the stern construction to handle the 4 strokes.

It was all fun and games till my motor got stolen

Smoky, glad insurance is working quickly. FYI on props - I had my new F250 with 1/4 X 19 props and got 4,900 RPMs. Just got the new props and the are 15 1/2 X 17. The new ones now turn 5,600 RPMs. Top end speed the same - hole shot acceleration is improved. Good luck with your second new engine!

We did the same, stayed with mechanical controls, I think the quote on the wire controls was 12K higher than the mechanical.

    New Twin Yamaha F250 4.2L

I think the WOT is spec'd at 5500 RPMs. I am still using my props from F225s - the new props from Yamaha are back ordered. Can't figure how an outboard manufacturer can run out of props in May? Kind of like McDonalds running our of burgers :). They are supposed to be in-stock mid to late June.

    New Twin Yamaha F250 4.2L

Had a chance to test our the new twin F250 4.2L engines yesterday. Was very happy with the power and speed of these new engines. I previously had 2004 F225 which had to be replaced because of the infamous exhaust corrosion issue which had also spread to my power heads. WOT throttle gave 4900 RPM...

Opinions on selling Gulfstream needing repair

A lot depends on the potential buyer. If they are boat knowledgeable they might offer you a price which accounts for the transom repair. Others may be frightened away by a wet transom. You could always state that there is an option for you to repair of reflect the repair in the price for those...

    New motor break in....

I'm breaking in twin F250 s with 2 hours on them. I believe the Yamaha recommendation after 2 hours is similar to the prior post. Utilize the engine at varying speeds - wide open is recommended for no more than 5 minutes and then a reduced throttle speed. Good luck with it

Seals livewell, cooler, drawers, 282 sailfish 2005

Hi - good luck with the 282. I have a 2004 that was just repowered with F250 Yamahas this past week. The repower was due to the infamous exhaust corrosion in the 2002-2005 engines. If yours has not been inspected it might be a good time to do it. I never had to replace those seals but are they...

Switching between Primary and auxiliary fuel tanks

find it easier to run both engines on one tank and then when fuel is running low switch both engines to the second tank rocker switch labeled fuel pushed forward is one tank and pushed down is the other. your boat is a 2001, my guess is the labels on the switches are worn off. I have an 04 and I...

    Replacing Live Well Pump

I had the same problem last year on my Sailfish. Tried everything and could not budge it. Luckily I was still in the dealer yard before spring launch and I had them change it. Cracked Fiberglass Near Transom

I was told by a dealer when the four strokes were entering the market that in addition to the weight, the have 4 strokes added torque that can damage the stern. The solution back then was to go with a 200 HPDI which was a great engine. The boat I'm referencing was a 1985 Seafarer being repowered...
