Another prop post + performance question. 2005 Seafarer 228 with F225

Tell us about how you are trimming the boat (engine and tabs) at the various speeds

Penetrating epoxy into freshwater hatch help

The failing caulk is a non-issue for this dilemma as it doesn't affect water getting into the core of the hatch. While we can't see the whole underside of the hatch (the topside doesn't really matter), I can see more than one place where the underside "skin" is separating - in addition to the...

Penetrating epoxy into freshwater hatch help

+1 to both things mentioned above. Also... those "small" wet spots will be at least twice or three times as big as you think. The question becomes whether or not they've been wet long enough to either cause the glass to delaminate from the wood and/or if the wood has started to rot. However...

    Deck hatch re-core 265

With what I've read and seen over the last 5 years ago, yes, I would have no issues in doing it. At this point, it's kinda like the old suggestion to never store a battery on concrete because it will cause it discharge... which also is no longer true (but used to be a long time).

    Deck hatch re-core 265

Actually, while that has typically been the thought in the past, it's been proven that gelcoat bonds perfectly well with epoxy. Possibly it was based on older formulations of one or the other. And, yes, poly would have been completely suitable for the job. But, like Skunk said, it's a bit...

Please help! Refurbishing old Tournament 192 and clueless

Welcome aboard! I can't believe you ruined a perfectly good nature garden just to make a silly boat out of it! :) How's the transom and bang plate? How about the motor well and transom drains? Are the brass tubes corroding? The back-to-back seat... look at companies like Wise - they make a...

    Advice on raising scuppers?

Glad to see you got it all done and are happy with it. Thanks for posting back, Dan. "water cannot be forced "uphill" into the cockpit via the through hulls." Just for clarification, that statement is wrong. Water CAN be forced uphill. But in your particular situation, it isn't happening...

    Deck hatch re-core 265

Nice job! I already have 256,000 non-redeemable points... I'll let someone else guess and win them ;)

    248 Voyager fresh water fill

You're welcome. Gotta luv "freebie" fixes! Re-route/support the hose so it doesn't happen again.

    Fuel Fill Help!

The deck fill plate (and your cleats) are made from a very special aluminum alloy called Marinium. It stopped being used because it was expensive to produce. However, Perko acquired it a little ways back and started making items out of it. I don't know if you'll find that cap, anymore, but...

Re-do needed. Best method to remove bottom paint?

This is at your comfort level, of course, but you could still jack the boat off the trailer using blocking and pull the trailer out from underneath it. Yes, the bow eye is fine for lifting. As far as actually removing the bottom paint... that's a big, tedious job doing it by hand, whether it's...

suicide knob / power knob for steering whel

It took me some time to do it, as well. But I can say that it is WELL built - it's amazingly heavy for how small it is. SUPER smooth, too. Customer service is great, as well. My brother removed it for some reason, then put it back on but didn't tighten it up enough. When I got to the boat...

    Freshwater wash down on 330

Just reiterrating a lot of what Seasick mentioned... it would be easy enough to T into the shower plumbing (after the pump, but before the shower fitting). What size is the tank? You may go through that very quickly - check the specs on the pump for the fow rate and do the math. Another issue...

    Transducer location

Just follow the manufacturer's instructions - they're very clear with placement - away from strake edges, etc. Plenty of threads on this forum about it and also on the net if you don't want to read instructions :) Honestly, we'd only be re-typing what has already been said or listed in the...

    which gas tank

Also in the manual, but to select which fuel tank to use, just rotate the fuel selector valve. Just follow the fuel lines for location.

    248 Voyager fresh water fill

Before that happened, I would have thought there would have been enough "air space" in the fill hose, too. But that definitely proved that there is at least the possibility of there NOT being enough air space. My guess is there's something going on with the way the liquid is exiting the fill...

    Steering sensor alarm

I won't be able to help with the electronic diagnosis as you'll likely need to be hooked up to a Yamaha computer/scanner. However, the first thing I would do is to make sure you have healthy batteries (don't assume... check each individually by removing ground cables. Getting them charged and...

    248 Voyager fresh water fill

One would think that the fill hose is large enough to allow air to escape through it while water is still entering. But this is not always the case. I was filling a gas tank when this happened - the fuel was actually backing up in the fill hose to a point where I could physically see the fuel...
