    Dead outlet?

2014? Do you mean 2004? Pull the outlet and check for power on the backside. You said "all" fuses... but did you find the one that is specific to the 12V accessory outlets? Go to THAT fuse - check your manual, if need be. Double check that fuse, first. Then, check for 12V power on the line...

    Bennett Trim Tab Fluid

Yup - any old ATF is fine. OK, I just did your homework for you - don't let the teacher catch us. On page 6-13 (you can download it) it says "Trim tab pump location"... in the cabin, in stbd berth storage compartment. I guess there's not enough room back in the bilge.

    Bennett Trim Tab Fluid

Is it not back by the transom (under one of the aft seats)? Your title says "fluid"... are you wondering what fluid to use?

    Fuel fill hose replacement.

And... did your boat have an option for dual tanks? What year/model do you have? Most of the boats had aluminum tanks. Possibly yours has been replaced?

    Fuel fill hose replacement.

Do you have a single fuel tank... and could your boat have had the option for dual tanks?

Bolt replacement for trim tab anode (non hex)

"Metric" isn't in reference to the head style (hex head or allen head) - it refers to the measurement of the bolt length/width and thread pitch. It is not interchangeable with imperial. If what you ordered doesn't work, a local hardware store (a real one) should be able to find you something...

    Lower Unit Gear Lube

I totally agree that he doesn't need overpriced oil. No question. But if he uses a GL5 oil, it can damage the yellow metal/brass bearings. And some "hypoid" labelled oils can be a GL5 oil. My point is simply to make sure to get the right formulation - not a certain brand. I only mentioned...

    Lower Unit Gear Lube

But... GL5 is not better than GL4 and GL5 is NOT backwards compatible with GL4 - it is different. It's also not about "hypoid" - that's simply the shape of the gears - it's the bearings that are important. Or, at least, that's what I've always known about these things. EDIT: Forgot the word...

    Lower Unit Gear Lube

Depends. Is it GL4 or GL5? Kinda feel like I'm repeating myself here, but THAT is the important thing to know.

    Lower Unit Gear Lube

You should double check for your own assurance, but I would imagine that your LU would use a GL4 like mine does. If so, and Bill is correct on the HD lube being GL5... case closed. If you would like to use a synthetic gear oil that can better withstand water intrusion, you can use the Merc...

    Lower Unit Gear Lube

I don't know what year your 130HP is, but you'll want to find out (owner's manual probably tells you) whether your lower unit bearings requires GL4 or GL5 gear lube. Then find out what that GC HD lube is. You can also check (download) an owner's manual for one of the V8's you're referring to...

    Fuel fill hose replacement.

The fill hose is supposed to be hard - it is wire (metal) reinforced. Unless it's cracking excessively, I wouldn't worry about it. Yes, it will be one length of hose. Vent line should be 5/8". With that said, it's the original, it's over 20 years old and it would't be a bad idea to do it.

Thanks for the follow up with that (good) information!

    Deck Drain Thru Hulls

They don't need to be fully closed all the time - as SS mentioned, when you start backing up, the force of the water will close them. If they are not there, and depending on backup speed and how high your floor is above the waterline, the water can backup into the cockpit. If you're adding...

Marine Paint Question for Engine Bracket

Thanks for the link, Drifter. I actually have one sitting on my shelf that I have yet to use - bet it's the same one! I guess we can't argue too much for $30, though. :)

Marine Paint Question for Engine Bracket

Yes, you are correct on the general recommendation of 1" higher. And, as you noted, you don't really know till you try, though. FYI... ventilation, not cavitation. Two different things.

Marine Paint Question for Engine Bracket

The bracket looks great! What gun from HF did you use? Not having a Seafarer, I can't answer your question directly. But an extra inch isn't going to make any real difference in regards to what you asked. It could, though, cause the prop to ventilate on plane under certain conditions...

Barrier coat, do you use them? Why?

Yeah, defnitely a weird time in our lives. I'm glad you took my post as it was intended - just some good-natured ribbing! :)

Barrier coat, do you use them? Why?

Good find on that article. Where did you find that... in the link I provided for you way back in post #4 of this thread? ;)

Sportsman 18 115 HP Yamaha - Should I be Concerned?

Good luck! Of course, a trial run (if available) would tell you everything you need to know :) Just keep the Smart Tabs on the back burner for now. While there are plenty of benefits that it can provide in everyday use even with a light load (keeping the bow planted in choppy weather, for...
