    Replacement passenger grab bar/rail

It might be something that Grady made in-house - unless you come across a salvage boat, the only option may be through a Grady dealer. Is something wrong with it? It looks OK in the pic.

    New upholstery on cabin cushions

Yup. Very common. Once the scew is screwed in, over time the fabric pops back over the scerw head. The trick is to look for the small slit in the fabric and/or simply "feel" for the screw head. No biggie.

    New upholstery on cabin cushions

That's looking good... although I think I would have thrown that old piece of foam away! You know, that piece that is only good on Sundays ;) That's odd about those screws. Everything should be easily removable - like you said, in between the pleats. Unless there are things like L-brackets...

    STA-BIL vs Yamalube?

Interesting on the Chevron. Gonna look into that a little more. If I had a 4-stroke, I wouldn't be using Ringfree. But with a 2-stroke, I know it is helpful. I'm basing this on how clean my VST tank/filter/fuel (Startron helps there, of course, too) is, along with the O2 sensor and O2...

    Kicker motors

I've never used one - just seen them talked about/videos/etc. But I thought that once it was in place, the rod stayed there? From what you're saying, it sounds like it's supposed to be removed every day?

    232 Gulfstream Questions

Oh, by the way... regarding the oil tank tray/hold down... you can buy the insanely priced Yamaha hold down, or you can buy a $10 battery tray. Both work equally well. Guess what I put in my boat? :)

    STA-BIL vs Yamalube?

I've been wondering that for some time. I've had such good success with RF (O2 sensor and "thimble" are VERY clean, for example), though, that I'm reluctant to try it until I find out some definitive information. Or, maybe, I should say I'm "a fraidy cat"... ;)

    Raw water wash down

Depending on the livewell pump you currently have, it might be inadequate for washdown duty. Instead, you might want to split the water line after the seacock and install a dedicated washdown pump. Check the specs on your livewell pump - a washdown is usually in the neighborhood of 4 to 5 gpm...

    232 Gulfstream Questions

The Gulfstream was one of Grady's most popular models, for good reason. The hull survey (by a competent surveyor) will address any issue with the boat such as possible wood rot in transom or floor, scupper/livewell hoses condition, fuel tank integrity, etc. The engines are solid, reliable...

    STA-BIL vs Yamalube?

The link shows $8 for the quart. You're asking if spending 2-1/2 cents per gallon is a good idea? Seriously? Wait, never mind... I see you're from Jersey. I understand, now. :) That's insanely low. Buy that before they realized they messed up on the price. Personally, I use Startron and...

    transom hatch

    transom hatch

You're right - not a whole lot of room there. But... once you get the charger squared away, how much access do you really need in that spot on a regular basis that it makes sense to change the hatch? Consider a removable hatch instead of a hinged hatch. That way the door is completely out...

    Steering Locks

Thinking more about this, how necessary is a steering lock? I've only trailered this particular boat (tons more experience with sterndrives) a few times (although twice was 500 miles each), but I never used a steering lock device and, if my memory is correct, the engine was still straight up...

    Steering Locks

More important (or at least as important) than bracing the steering is NOT having the motor resting on the tilt lock leg (it's not meant for trailering). You want to brace the engine better (assuming it doesn't sit high enough on the trailer to let it all the way down, of course) since it's not...

2004 - 180 Sportsman Transom, Reason for Concern?

It may not be swollen - it just appears that way in that (single) picture. A straight edge along the transom - then comparing to the other side for good measure - may be helpful. "Core" samples would show if the wood was wet, though. If there's access, it can be done on the inside to make...

    transom hatch

It's not uncommon (at all) to be doing things by "feel" only when working on boats. Kinda just the name of the game sometimes. But... Do you have a pic of the area? Or, is there physically enough room to ad a bigger hatch? Take a look at the hatches on TH Marine's website - would something...

2004 - 180 Sportsman Transom, Reason for Concern?

It "appears" that there may be some expansion/bowing of the transom. It's conceivable that because the bang plate hasn't been re-sealed on a timely basis that it has allowed water into the transom and the wood has swelled. But obviously I can only base this on that single picture. Either way...

Inflatable for Grady Gulfstream and power

Sure. No reason a tender can't be towed behind. The tender doesn't care what type of boat is in front of it nor the propulsion. Probably why you don't see it as often is simply due to the way "most" people use their Grady as opposed to something like a Sea Ray Sundancer.

    Trailer Bow Tie Down

The important thing about tongue height is not the height, itself. However, that 30-some inches sounds AWFUL high. Typically it would be something like 20". What you need to check, though, is that when hooked up to the truck that the frame is level. That way the load is equalized on both...
