    flush mount material

Our local plastics store could not order the 1/4” Seafoam Starboard so I went with the black ABS for now, I may change it out for the Seafoam if they get it in stock later. It’s nice to have options.

    Cabin bulkhead material?

The corner piece covering the wiring was very soggy due to water sitting and not draining out the floor drain I assuming the previous owner didn’t address. But I did notice some rot on the port bulkhead as well when cutting a hole for a speaker. I will watch that and may replace that entire...

    Cabin bulkhead material?

The bulkhead material is 1/2 plywood covered with vinyl. The starboard piece that covers the wiring and hydraulic hoses under the steering wheel is made of the same material. Mine was rotten and soggy from a windshield leak from the previous owner so I replaced it with Seafoam Starboard as the...

    Repower 1988 Seafarer 228 G

I have a 1999 228G Seafarer with a 600 lb 250 Suzuki on it and it’s awesome, a buddy with the same hull and year just put a new Yamaha 300 on it and it’s awesome as well. These newer 4 strokes are heavy compared to the older 2 strokes but all work on the incredibly well built Grady transoms, in...

    Single engine on larger boat?

Not to derail this thread but I believe the real future is in electric outboards, in my opinion. I know there are some already out there that are smaller HP, I have had an electric trolling motor for years for the lakes on my small tin boats and it’s awesome quiet later at night hearing the...

    Cover for 228 with Softtop

This is the Budge 1200 Denier 24-26ft cover that I bought last fall, so far I’m very impressed with it.

1999 seafarer 228 makeover/ flush mount for 2 nine inch screens.

Your welcome, it was tighter at the bottom so I made the cut all out of the top side and left the bottom original...

1999 seafarer 228 makeover/ flush mount for 2 nine inch screens.

I have attached a photo of the cut area from the back, I was pretty nervous making the cut knowing I can‘t go back. I just lucked out with the purchase of the demo 12 inch unit, I was in the right place at the right time. I mounted it to the left to make room for other accessories later and to...

Transom Rebuild - The Saga Begins

I would suggest checkin with your insurance company as well as it’s water damage just like a roof on an RV and I know from experience that RV water damage is covered by some policies.

Replacing Gas Tank and Re-Gelcoat on 209 Escape

I would like to remove the bottom paint on my Seafarer as well, was it a hard project? Can you provide steps that you used? Thank you.

    re-mount bracket for 30" motor?

You may be better to fabricate a plate to bolt to the bracket than to raise the entire pod/bracket like I did to for the 30 inch outboard that I bought. I put a 30 inch Suzuki on my 228 Seafarer and had to create a plate as the pod horns were broken for the upper bolts from the previous owner...

My boat is at that age

I ended up purchasing the complete Jabsco washdown kit to replace the original pump that was seized on my Seafarer as I needed the hose and nozzle as well. Works great.

Finally got the 3d printer going

Sounds like an awesome idea I’m in! I’m a Remote Sensing geek , it’s actually my role with work so I deal with a lot of 3D terrain and forest canopy data at work. We have drones and a bunch of LiDAR data but it would be cool to create a 3D model of my Seafarer. We just don’t have a LiDAR sensor...

    Suzuki props

I have a single Suzuki DF250 on my 1999 228 Seafarer, not the same boat as yours but I went with the 3X16X18.5 pitch prop and got incredible hole shot and hit WOT, not cheap but well worth it.

    Screw Cover Caps in Almond

Here‘s a picture of the latest snap caps that I ordered, I think the 8/8 - 120 will work, the 8/8 - 103 may be too light
