    Buying a new polisher

I have one as well and really like it. It's heavy and you need to be careful. But, I find it very efficient. I also bought one of these and use on top side and detail areas. Worked really well. It was a gamble...but I am pleased.

When I bought my boat I had a hunch the transom was wet. Pulled the blown motor...and took off the cap. Some areas good. Some areas wet. Probed a bit and found soft spots and glue failure in plywood in a couple spots. Said the heck with it and got out the vibratory tool and chisel. 2 hrs...

Welcome! More pictures! Seafarers are great boats. I'd say "small but mighty" but the fact is...they have more fishability and room to work the cockpit than boats a few feet or so larger. I'll still say small but mighty though!

Anyone ever slid their boat on or off a trailer?

I took my boat off my old trailer and put on new. Blocked the aft corners and since I was in a garage, I built a frame and used chain fall lifts and straps on the front. When I had my new trailer, I had to make adjustments. I ended up having to use some corner jacks and and center jack and...

    228 seafarer

If buying an older model, you definitely don't want to pay too much. I paid $2800 for the boat with trailer. Had brand new isinglass enclosure. It was a great deal, but I knew what I was getting into with overhauling it. I invested to make it "like new" with all mechanicals and electrical...

    228 seafarer

I think the L6 Verado I have is around 660#. When I designed my flotation bracket/swim platform, I was able to make adjustments for additional flotation and offset 330# of motor weight. I would not want to hang a newer 4 stroke with that kind of weight on the transom without additional flotation.

    228 seafarer

I bought my 1984 Seafarer in 2017. Restored it as you are indicating. Videos here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKY3HuZDoWwR_iSbBmZmWEkSuhFlgBwjb I went with 300 Mercury Verado. I did not add a kicker. I saw no need to add that complexity and weight. I troll on Lake Erie for...

Need a “hit list” of things to fix..

If you don't have digital and want to upgrade, then it really doesn't matter....as you'd be pulling everything out. I went digital and it's awesome. I can't understate how tickled I am with the ease of use and control. Yamaha, Honda, Mercury, Suzuki, et al make some nice motors. I don't...

I say you go big and rig a pair of these.... https://www.mercurymarine.com/en/us/engines/outboard/verado/250-400-hp/

    Just felt like saying hello....

Russ.....you've been MIA?!!!!! I've been tinkering with the boat this winter here in PA. Doing some polishing and buffing and sanding. Made a nice storage system for my extendable ladder that I mount to the swim platform. Been working to install a FishHawk (https://fishhawkelectronics.com)...

    Best boat you never owned?

Always had a heart for a Carolina flare on a 45+ foot express or convertible with a pair of kick butt diesel inboards. Cruising out in that battle wagon at 35+ knots just eating the waves like candy and crushing 40 knots if the mood struck me. Love the lines of some of the Viking yachts!

    Repowering a 2000 222 fisherman.

When I repowered I saw the same think on the binnacle that was on my boat. It was strange.

    Repowering a 2000 222 fisherman.

+1 for fly by wire. I was really on the fence about it when I repowered. I wasn't sure of the cost benefit analysis. I can say it is phenomenal. No struggles with setting trolling speed and the smoothness is fantastic. I've not had a problem in two seasons of use. I don't know what Yamaha...

Seafarer 22 under deck storage mod?

I installed drain tubes and preserved ones that were there. Using West System epoxy was actually pretty easy.

Seafarer 22 under deck storage mod?

For me, I needed to distribute weight. Moving my main tank forward balanced my boat and allows me to have a 300 Verado on the stern. I already had to replace my tank.
