Keep an eye on Ebay for props. I've bought multiple sets on there in great condition and WAY cheaper than new. If they don't work, you turn around and sell them what you paid if not more.
Look into Merc props as well. Mirage Plus worked VERY well on my old Sailfish.
That looks like regular old Starboard to me.
You should be able to replicate the profile using standard wood working tools. Throw some heat on it and it should bend easily into that shape.
Dang it BobP...you stole my single engine 25 Parker example. :)
A buddy of mine has the mod-V 2520 with a single 225 OX66 and it performs just fine now that the engine height and prop have been tweaked. I probably wouldn't hesitate to put a single 300 on a 252.
Does either the 300 HPDI or...
Hairline cracks in the hull bottom can show up when the hull starts to flex. Hulls start to flex when their stringers are rotten. Based on what you said in your other thread about stringer rot I would have that boat thoroughly checked out...
Your mechanic is a goof.
All you have to do is notch the platform. Tough to see here, but these are 12x12 Bennett tabs with the standard length actuators. I simply clearanced the platform so it would fit around the mounting flange of the actuator.
Good idea. I like it!
I would have done it a little differently though and made the box to have the same fold down motion as the stove. Once dropped down, the tackle boxes would insert vertically and would give you a sort of wall-handing table Folding the box up would secure them.
How quick do you want to be up an running?
If you need something to do over the winter, I would mess with the 150. The compression sounds low (but even and that's good), but it may come back with a decarb and a little run time. Since the powerhead mounting bolts already have the heads sheared...
My only experience with Atlantic Towers was a display I saw at the Baltimore Boat Show about 10 years ago. Personally I wasn't impressed at the time, but they may have changed their product over the years.
My recommendation would be to contact Don Battin of Pipe Dreams Marine in Woodbine, NJ...
Is your garboard drain offset to one side?
Leave the foam out. I seriously doubt it adds any structural support. Any forces placed on it would likely cause it to deform anyway. If you ever got to a point were it was supporting anything, you have bigger fish to fry...
I would do two...
If you don't have matching bolt holes for the single bracket on the inside, it's possible your transom was rebuilt from the inside. Do you see any evidence of new glass?
I refinished a portion of the bracket on my old Sailfish. I wanted to pop it off and get it blasted, but that sucker...
Look for brown stains around hardware on the transom. Brown stains mean rust or rot...but GW has always used pretty good quality SS. Sound the transom and stringers with a hard plastic mallet or the handle of a large screw driver. Dull thud means rot.
Wood core is in pretty much everything. Plywood in the transom, stringers, bulkheads, decks, washboards and I'm pretty sure there is balsa in the hull sides.
Re: 2001 250HP OX66 Charging Problem
I'm pretty sure the green wire you are referring to is for the trim/tilt system. Now that it's completely broken off, do you have trim up and down functionality?
For your voltage problem, the first things I would check are your battery and battery switch...
You can email the folks at Grady to get the specs/dimensions on the tanks. Then just give them to whomever you choose to be your tank builder. Several in the NJ are to choose from. The two that immediately come to mind are Patriot Marine and Atlantic Coastal Welding (speedytanks.com I...
Anyone know the length of the throttle/shift control cables for the 1986 Seafarer 228?
I got a set of nearly new 22' Teleflex cable with the 225 Merc I bought and was wondering if they will be reusable after I do the bracket conversion on my 227. Thanks.
