    Sea Star Steering Troubleshooting

Make sure to check the autopilot pump area. If you are losing a significant amount of fluid, and it sounds like you are, that is an easy place to look. On my 330 they put the pump behind the AC/DC panel in the cabin. Turn off all power, take out the 6-8 screws and take a look, unless your...

    Switch in head on 330

All of the panels in the aft cabin are removable. The starboard side panels allow access to the holding tank, etc. I suspect the exhaust fan is accessible on the forward most panel. I seem to remember you have to remove the starboard panel first.

    Switch in head on 330

On my 2007 it is a fan switch. Exhausts out starboard side aft under the gunnel and out the side vent.

    EPIRB or PLB

There is little difference between a PLB and an EPIRB except weight, duration of battery life while transmitting, and activation mode. Most PLBs last at least 24 hours transmitting, while EPIRBs are typically 48 hours or longer. If modern, they both transmit on 406MHZ and 121.5MHZ with the same...

Yamaha 150trs-175trs-200trs-200txrs - What is this hose for?

Pitot pressure to provide water pressure to speed sensor on a Yamaha gauge. Not real valuable given today's GPS connections and GPS speed availability. Highly prone to clogging as the port on the leading edge of the outdrive is quite small.

    2007 Marlin Battery Configuration

It is not a good idea to leave either switch in "both." Typically you'll only use "both" if one bank is too weak to start an engine. The starboard switch on my boat serves the house and the starboard engine. The port switch only supplies the port engine and gen starting. We have one bank of...

    house battery charging

Your diagram shows batteries in series, not parallel, 24V system! Connecting a battery positive to the other negative yields 24V, not 12V. Be careful! If it is similar to my 2007 330, the starboard battery switch supplies the house and starboard engine, either number one bank or number two...

    Off shore safety

In the winter, have something that will keep you warm in the water. Wet suits, dry suits, survival suits, for example. Any water temperature below about 65 can be problematic for hypothermia even in a few hours. The EPIRB will get you help in a few hours, but in cold water you may not last that...

Female shore power receptacle (???!!) on Grady Canyon 306

Are you certain that it is a female? You are aware that the receptacle is recessed and the male prongs do not stick out visibly. Just checking!

Female shore power receptacle (???!!) on Grady Canyon 306

Never heard of such a thing! Would actually be dangerous to have a energized male plug to maybe have to handle to plug in your boat. Check with Grady, does not seem an acceptable design. Highly recommend you change the boat end to be male. Surely someone had modified it. Shouldn’t be that...

    Anchor line

Consider finding a local source that could splice it for you. I believe the advantages are worth it. Should not cost very much.

    2007 Marlin Battery Configuration

If like the 07 330 the starboard battery switch supplies the house and starboard engine, either number one bank or number two bank depending on switch position. The port switch supplies the port engine and the generator starting capability. Think of switches and not battery banks, the starboard...

    Manuals stored on board

I store mine in the port side compartment under the forward V berth. Covered with that stamoid flap.

    Anchor line

Highly recommend 8-plate line, my experience is it handles much easier, lays better in the locker and the windlass likes it better. More difficult to splice but if you take your time, Buy a cheap Swedish fid and follow instructions you can do it very well. If you currently have 8-plate...

Charging house battery from Yamaha 150 when running

Skunk boat has a good point. I was assuming you were going to run your charging lead directly to the battery and not through a switch. Always good to have the ability to back up your starting batteries. Most simple hook up is straight to the battery that you normally use as the house...

Charging house battery from Yamaha 150 when running

Simple as that! There is already a fuse in the charging circuit at the voltage regulator, at least there was on my 2011 F150. Shop around for the cable as it is simply a Yamaha plug and ring terminal end for the battery.

Lowrance Live wanting engine info on screen

You are right about the power being on both busses. I have Garmin and I seem to remember that I had to cut the (red) power wire on my home made cable to prevent the issue you mentioned. The gauge page came right up on the Garmins. Make sure you are connected to the correct port on the Yamaha...

    Shower sump

The area with the teak crosshatch is just a step down area with a drain. The shower sump is under the hatch with the bilge pumps, but forward under the step edge and a bit hard to see. Look back toward the bow. It has a float switch and is contained in a small plastic box. Mine has been fine...

Why does my outboard eat coils?

Look at fuel issues, your focus may be misplaced. Probability of two sets of coils failing is remote. 1000 RPM loss may be related to a single cylinder issue or air/fuel issue.
