24' offshore relocating main tank to rear?

lime, thank you i guess that answered my question. I may still call Grady White and ask them just to be sure. How do these 24's sit in the water? I'm hoping it bails just as well as my 22'. That boat never has more than an inch of water in it tops.

24' offshore relocating main tank to rear?

Definitely not a converted outboard, it's an 85' open transom outboard setup. I'm not sure how they came setup from the factory. My 88' 22' seafarer has a closed transom/bracket outboard setup and has the main tank forward and aux. in the rear. I would plan on running heavy wire to compensate...

24' offshore relocating main tank to rear?

If you go into the photo section and look at the thread (new to me 24' offshore) you will see what I'm dealing with. I basically bought a 24' offshore shell, no fuel tanks/motor and gutted everything completely. Yes they usually come with a main and an aux. tank. I'm choosing to only have a...

24' offshore relocating main tank to rear?

Does anyone have their main tank (93 gal. if I recall?) located in the rear hatch? I want to put my new tank when the time comes in the rear compartment and use the front one for my batteries/electronics/holding tank/parts and tool storage area. Here is a picture showing what was my original...

    Newbie washdown question

remove the hose from the outgoing side of the pump and turn it on. If water comes out you know the problem is in the hose/fittings after the outgoing side of the pump. Also sometimes there are little screen/filters on the incoming side of the pumps than can get clogged. Usually they are used...

    Fuel line obstruction

Your fuel pickup tube can be either clogged or has fallen off. Makes sense since you switched over to your aux and it works fine. Find your pickup on the main tank, remove your hose, remove barb/fitting, and unthread your pickup tube.

    whats a 86 offshore 24 hull worth?

I'm sure you could get 3-5k easy for the hull especially with everything you've mentioned. I paid 1000$ for my 85' 24' hull and it pretty much came with all the old teak trim/hatches, windows, and hydraulic steering/hoses, that's it. My hull happens to be structurally sound, besides the tank...

New to me 85' 24' Offshore (Project)

Started the "re-core" on the front hatch today. Still have to do the rear hatch and the small cover that goes over the bilge pump area. I used a sheet of 1/2" maple for the material. The old glass came off pretty easily since it wasn't done right but the old wet wood took a little while to...

New to me 85' 24' Offshore (Project)

Haven't worked on the boat in almost a month. Busy with work, this that and the other thing. Started working on it this week again just doing more sanding/filling. I've gotten pretty good at it now and seem to be moving along nicely. Also found a 1993 225 Evinrude Ocean Pro that I may...

How many hours in the 250 yam? I'd be interested if you decide to repower your current boat.

82 Seafarer Cabin Wall Replacement questions

I've done a few bulkhead replacements on Grady's using starboard. I usually just but it up to the fiberglass with some lifeseal, and use the original aluminum angle along with the holes through the fiberglass to mount it. Then I make a nice clean bead around all the edges and wipe the excess...

    Blocking/Lifting a 228G from Trailer

There are a number of ways to do this without using machinery. If you don't want to remove the trailer completely, you can build/buy some sort of gantry crane and lift the boat either from the front eye or with strap around the whole boat. Either that or buy a 2 ton or bigger car engine hoist...

    Masthead light problem

Check for 12v where your masthead light plugs in. If you have 12v there, try spreading them a little so when you slide in the light they make contact with the female side. If you do not have 12v there, check for 12v coming in/out of the switch. If no good there check for 12v coming in and out...

OX66 250 motors overheating / water spraying out of motors

Re: OX66 250 motors overheating / water spraying out of moto Overheating at high RPM is usually caused by a bad water pump. I've seen plenty of "new" pumps go bad right away due to a defective impeller separating from its hub. It may be fine at idle and low rpm, but once you are on plane the...

    Waxing

We use 3M Heavy Duty Rubbing Compound followed by 3m Cleaner Wax for gel coat on a wool pad with a polishing machine. Never had an unhappy customer in our yard. I get a kick out of people using those vibrating machines or doing it by hand, the results never even come close.

High speed water pick up causing either hose or pump to blow

Re: High speed water pick up causing either hose or pump to I realize it's on the bottom of the hull. If it were mounted midway the pump would suck air when on plane. You need to turn the thru-hull 180* or install a flush mounted one. Good luck with your problem.

High speed water pick up causing either hose or pump to blow

Re: High speed water pick up causing either hose or pump to What if you were to install the thru-hull scoop with the grilled part facing aft? I'm pretty sure they do this with generators and other things to prevent water from coming in. A lot of people even put in flush mounted thru-hulls...

Will any hardtops from another boat fit a 24' Grady?

I found a hardtop from a 25' Hydrasport W/A and I know the hulls are very similar was wondering if anyone knew if they would fit? Looks exactly like the hardtops that come on the 24's and 25 older Grady's.

New to me 85' 24' Offshore (Project)

Hatch is almost done. Still have to lay down some filler on two of the sides to get a clean edge ( you can see in the picture if you look close). Then I have to do a lot more sanding, it's a pretty snug fit right now so once its primed and painted it probably wouldn't close. I laid it all...
