Is this one time use stuff?

I used 5200 on my custom bracket. It was also recommended by the the fabricator. Anything below the water I use 5200 on. Debond and some fishing line removed what appeared to be 5200 off the original.

    SALAGED GRADYS

Gradys are yard yachts down here. I could see how someone could turn these around and sell them up north where they are more desirable. The problem is all the wood on the older models. A lot more work rehabbing a walk around compared to a CC and they are a PIA to rig.

The radius is also for strength. You won't see many sharp 90s on a boat. Obviously, you over built and should be fine.

Two Simrad 7 inches in Grady 228. Possible?

You really have to be careful mounting flush with the new units. As with everything on a walk around its a PIA to modify. Many of the new units require rear access for updates. Very easy to do on a center console, but our little glove/E-box doesn't have rear access. The little micro-SD on...

Better use of coaming space/cockpit sidewalls?

Fill part of it in for a 6.5" speaker. I'm in the middle of that project right now. You can add the usb charger to the box you make.

    Fish finder ideas

This was more than wet hands and I know the tech is changing. Just something to consider or ask more questions. I believe the GPSstore has a forum on THT.

Also, the downside is that it has no buttons. :) Was fishing the humps in the Keys on a family members boat. Had to run into the weather to get home. It was hard keeping the screen dry. It started acting crazy and was unresponsive. Just food for thought. 99% of the time it isn't an issue...

Run some thick filets on that support. Those sharp angles will be hard to glass.

The 74cv is a budget unit. It's reliable, but I would move up a series or look at Simrad. I have the 74dv and will be switching to a Garmin 942/Airmar so I can overlay radar down the road.

    1999 Bimini 306 - replacing fuel tanks.

Colin has more experience and you will get a better tank than the big tank company in the state. It's just him and on other guy that's been there for 15+ years. His wife takes care of the paperwork and phones. I need to get in there and have him do my Grady tank before he retires.

    Transom Work Questions

Unless you're going to do some work on the interior or stringers I would tackle from the outside. Working on an inside radius isn't fun.

Cockpit liner panel replacement on 1996 Voyager.

You could cover it with a vinyl wrap. Just get one for outdoors.

    repower

Yeah, the Yami 350 is a POS. They need a complete redesign on that motor.

    Re Power

If the boat had a single 2smoke I wouldn't worry about using a single 4stroke. The issue is the single pod bracket. It doesn't displaced the force across the entire transom.

    new tanks

Use coal tar epoxy. If you can keep the current away from the tank it will last forever.

The electronic 250 would be my first choice. That's a detuned 300. One part away from 50 more ponies. ;)

    1999 Bimini 306 - replacing fuel tanks.

Take a look at mattson and company. You will see his ads in a few fishing magazines. He did the tank on my Mako and the bracket on my Grady. He has been building tanks for over 30 years. This won't be a production operation. He can also ship anywhere.

Serious now about joining the Grady crowd!

COG is way off once you strap all the extra weight in the back. I don't have an AUX tank which makes this even worse. I'll be splitting the difference between the 2 coffin boxes with a larger tank. My motor has to be trimmed all the way and tabs are mandatory if I have any conditions. The tabs...

Most of the SV2's will pound you as well if they switched from a 2-stroke to a 4-stroke without moving tanks. Full tabs on my boat are needed. When I do the new tank it's going to be one big one moved forward.
