    Towing a GW 235 with BMW X5?

I understand your "feeling" - and also why you might think it's not up the task basing it on the looks. But looks can be deceiving. It's not a big boat - and the Yukon/Tahoe is VERY WELL suited to pull that weight. As I said, I've done this more times than I can count without a calculator...

    Towing a GW 235 with BMW X5?

That single experience is not normal. I've trailered with many Yukon's/Tahoe's/Suburbans - most with lesser engines... a couple with larger. A bunch of them were older ones with even lesser braking systems. They are EXCELLENT trailer vehicles and have no problem stopping weights like that...

OK, thanks for clarification. Clarification on what you mean by "limp mode"? Or a better description of what happens to the engine?

    2014 F250 XA shutting off

Start the engine. Stop the engine. Drain the VST tank and make a note of the amount of fuel that comes out. Prime it up again and run the engine till it bogs out. Drain the VST tank and compare. The logical thing is that the VST tank is running out of fuel - but doing that should verify and...

    OX66 Winky Blinky Expertise Needed

Nowhere in your previous posts did you mention you monitored the Winky in real time when the alarm sounds. But it seems you mentioned it in a latter post. Just to be clear... DID YOU monitor in real time and find that there was no code? IF the computer is putting the engine into limp mode...

    OX66 Winky Blinky Expertise Needed

But what code did the Winky flash? That's the data you need - which is better than guessing at things. The Winky will get you into the complaining system - then diagnose from there.

Thanks, but like Shaggy said... It wasn't me. KY did the homework. I'm still waiting on the rest of the answers to the questions in #4 :)

    Towing a GW 235 with BMW X5?

Good thing I wasn't doing it upwind :) I learned that real quick when I was about 8 years old. Some things it only takes once to learn!

    1988 204c Scuppers

Common problem with many different boat models - especially older ones where the floor is very close to the waterline. I think the main goal was to simply have a self bailing cockpit. There's a bunch (a BUNCH) of threads on here that you can search/read, but the overall consensus is: -- Ping...

Honestly, your post doesn't matter So true! I'm thinking I'm going to click that special button again. Shame on me for unclicking!

    Towing a GW 235 with BMW X5?

No, apparently you did NOT read his post - or at least not well enough. He clearly stated the distance. He asked a fair question because he didn't know the answer. Plain and simple. Your assessment on the X5's trailering ability in based purely on interent research... and we all know how...

    Towing a GW 235 with BMW X5?

If you had taken the time to read the OP's original post, he clearly stated he's towing a minimal distance just once or twice a year. He also stated that the ramp is overly steep and is clean/not slippery. The X5 is MORE than capable of doing this - plus it gives him a nice ride the rest of...

    282 Sailfish weight

Yes, that looks like you're in the ballpark for the height. Best thing to do - so you know FOR SURE - is to physically measure the height when you get to it.

Fuel Sender stuck screw removal on 1998 Adventure (poly tank) advice

Sometimes smacking the screw head with a hammer and a socket extension breaks up the crusty stuff, too.

Fuel Sender stuck screw removal on 1998 Adventure (poly tank) advice

PB Blaster is a good one. Spray it couple times over the course of a day or two for best results. Try repeatedly tightening/loosening. Use an impact driver - but just one or two little quick "hits" in each direction - not full power, either. The shocking motion of the impact driver helps.

    282 Sailfish weight

Go to GW's site and download the owner's manual for it. That will have lots of specs in there. The weight listed will likely be "dry weight"... which means boat only - no engines, gas, options, etc. Add those on top of the dry weight. Then add the weight of the trailer - different trailers...

    Towing a GW 235 with BMW X5?

Yup - luckily, looks can be deceiving. Trailering a 30' Sea Ray cruiser with a '98 3/4 ton Suburban (diesel)... after a stop over I was walking back to the rig and thought "Geesh, that boat makes that Burb look tiny!". Trailers like a champ, though. And how 'bout a 35' cruiser on the back of...

Do you have the motor trimmed ALL the way down/in during the hole shot? And, you SHOULD be using quite a bit of throttle. Do you have trim tabs?
