    Towing a GW 235 with BMW X5?

He is NOT being cheap. An X5 is a perfectly fine/sized vehicle for pulling his boat. He could pull that boat year round with the X5 and be just fine, too.

    Gulfstream 232 bilge pump/switch

Agree. Randy, if you disconnected the "pump wire" from the battery (you weren't clear) then you disconnected the float switch. You don't have a problem with the pump. Unless you have an auto/all-in-one pump - only you will know that answer :)

    Towing a GW 235 with BMW X5?

Bill, another couple reasons you won't "launch your truck"... your boat isn't pulling the vehicle with 6,000lbs of force - it's a whole lot less. The only way it would be 6,000lbs was if the ramp was completely vertical. Secondly, one of my other trucks is a 3/4 ton which probably weighs about...

    Towing a GW 235 with BMW X5?

You may see posts and internet lore about that happening. It's all conjecture and "what if's" and "I heard". My post/responses are not based on what I find by googling. You will NOT be dragged into the water. I am a life long boater, with many, many combinations of tow vehicles and boats...

Fuel Sender stuck screw removal on 1998 Adventure (poly tank) advice

Yes, screwed into an embedded nut. Is the screw turning but not "rising" or is the screw not turning at all?

    Towing a GW 235 with BMW X5?

You'll be fine at the ramp - 6K lbs isn't all that much - I've used lesser vehicles than the X5 with that kind of weight. That car, while not having a true 4WD system with a low gear, will have an excellent traction control system. There will be no problem with "power" since you'll be in first...

    OX66 Winky Blinky Expertise Needed

Yes, it only monitors real-time data. Nothing is stored to be able to access later like with newer systems. Go old school. What's the physical temp near the t-stats when it alarms? Also check head temps and compare port to stbd. How did the cooling passageways in the heads and t-stat...

All in, how much was replacing a fuel tank?

Prices are going to range quite a bit. Generally, the tank is about $10/gallon to make (although it might be a couple dollars higher per gallon than that now). But the labor is where it will vary a lot from one boat to another. -- How easy is it to remove the tank in YOUR boat? -- Does...

Replacment hinges and painting trim tabs

"Friction hinges" My guess is that someone used a paint that has metal in it (or maybe pinholes in the paint) and that's the reaction you are seeing. They don't need to be painted, especially since your boat doesn't stay in salt water. Remove the paint and buff them shiny (if you want)...

    New cover

Hands down the separate bow and cockpit covers will be easier. If need be, the upholsterer that makes it for you can make relief cuts in the cockpit cover to go around the hardtop legs. But the nice thing is that you can have it done any way you like. The downside to bow & cockpit covers is...

    2021 Freedom 275 Anchor Selection

I suspect there was another variable - with those conditions and that amount of scope you were using it should have held just fine. Maybe it had gotten fouled by something as it set down.

    2002 Sailfish Drain Tube Replacement

And... epoxy the inside of the hole until the epoxy no longer soaks in. Even if there was a leak past the sealant used on the tube, it wouldn't matter. In theory, a tube and sealant isn't even needed.

    Overheating

Pull and check t-stats for proper opening operation and surrounding/interior area for salt clog. Pull and check impeller/housing/plates. Don't assume it's good because it was replaced last year.

    2002 Sailfish Drain Tube Replacement

A chisel and hammer makes removal of the outer/inner lip easy. My advice? Skip the brass and go with white nylon. Should last nearly as long and installation/removal is MUCH easier. TH-Marine makes some nice ones - and they are adjustable. Just push/click the two pieces together and you're...

    Grady White 232 Gulfstream trailer

I don't think you're going to find even an average trailer in that weight rating for under that price. Probably right smack dab in the middle. Prices over the last couple years, like everything else, have jumped tremendously. I don't know what your Tundra is rated to? If it has the capacity...

    Grady White 232 Gulfstream trailer

Nothing has really changed in the many years that people have been trailering a Gulfstream... or trailering, in general. Here's a search with plenty of reading info: https://www.greatgrady.com/search/1627179/?q=gulfstream+trailer&c[title_only]=1&o=date You can get the weights/specs from GW's...

    2021 Freedom 275 Anchor Selection

What anchor you use depends primarily on the type of sea bottom. A 14lb plow anchor will work very well in many conditions. That anchor is plenty for your boat - sure you can bigger, but properly using the anchor is likely all that you need to do. A common mistake many boaters make is not...
