Finally on Lake Erie. (More) Pictures Included

Re: Finally on Lake Erie. Picture Included Yup. That's Cedar Point! Did you stop in at the islands? Great place to visit, especially during the week. How would you rate how well your Journey handles the Erie chop compared to the ocean? What size waves have you been running into and what speed...

    Verado on Seafarer?

Congratulations on your repower! I didn't notice at 1st you were on Erie! Do you plan to troll with the Verado? If so, how do you get your speed down?

    Need Windshield Wiper Help

The stainless blade assemblies are for heavy duty applications on trucks, trains, and ships. They can be bought at a truck fleet store for around $10- $15. Search Anco 52-18 or change the last 2 digits for your specific length. Scored a new pair off eBay last month for $10!

Would it be Unwise to buy a 20 year-old Grady?

Age doesn't matter as much as hours of exposure and condition. Our 1999 has never been kept in the water and the engine only has around 300-350 hours. If I could find an Islander with similar stats at the right price, I'd buy it tomorrow... unfortunately they are getting harder to find! BTW...

    Repower/keep 24 or go bigger?

I've been wrestling with a similar decision, but for other reasons. What I fear is that I will regret moving up because of the additonal maintenace and over-all PIA of a bigger boat, another engine, and another set of trailer brakes (I like to trailer, but currently rack for my Dad). I often...

What a great forum with great people

Best wishes to you and the family. Do your research and find the best help you can get. The medical community has many varying degrees of competency within the same field. Unfortunately it can take time to find the right person with the right solution, but the investment is worth it. Good luck.

Voyager vs 270 Islander ride quality

Short of the long, I'm wondering if the ride is any better in the chop. I'm starting to think a cat might be the best option, but none are as functional as the Grady's. I'm not considering a Tigercat for a few reasons.

Voyager vs 270 Islander ride quality

Anyone out there that have owned or have a lot of experience with both? Was the ride of the 270 appreciably better than the Voyager? Thanks

    Verado on Seafarer?

Sounds like you have done a lot of homework. Based on what you describe I think you can take care of any minor issues you might run into. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

    Verado on Seafarer?

I know you mentioned the flotation bracket, but I would still be concerned about weight under way and how it affects the angle of the boat on plane. I would hazard a guess that the Verado is at least 100 lbs heavier than what your boat was engineered for and I believe the weight is even further...

Weather stripping or non foam double skidded tape source?

Re: Weather stripping or non foam double skidded tape source Hadn't thought of that one. Good to know!

Weather stripping or non foam double skidded tape source?

Re: Weather stripping or non foam double skidded tape source I'll check it out and will likely go that route. Thanks for the help!

Weather stripping or non foam double skidded tape source?

Re: Weather stripping or non foam double skidded tape source I have the same tape. Amazing material. The weather strip alone is 1/8" uncompressed. I have it on each side if the joint so collectively it is 1/4" uncompressed. I'm not sure if I can cram any more in there! Another option might be...

Weather stripping or non foam double skidded tape source?

Re: Weather stripping or non foam double skidded tape source Thanks Dennis. I have the thinnest 3m tape, but I still think it is too thick although I should try to compress it. Using carpet tape crossed my mind, but it is not easy to work with for more precise applications.

Weather stripping or non foam double skidded tape source?

The Voyager has what appears to be an EPDM extruded weather strip that is bonded to the plastic cabin hatch panels. When the hatch is closed, the weather strip seals the hatch joint so that water does not get into the cabin. The material looks very similar to Frost King V23 profile. The only...

    228/248/232 ...tough decision

I only have experience with the 248 with a single. I don't have a hard top to catch wind while docking, but it isn't too terrible to maneuver unless you are in tight quarters. As for the ride, it is very dry, but not smooth with my configuration. I just added 160 lbs of ballast to the bow to see...

    Boarding ladder extension?

Trust me, the only thing that fits in the cut-out is the original ladder.

    Boarding ladder extension?

The ladder on the boat is designed to fold into a molded recess in the deck. No other ladder will do the same. I will likely make something, but thought I would at least ask to see if some other factory like option exists.

    Boarding ladder extension?

The Voyager vintage boats do not have the telescopic ladders like the newer models. The ladder is a little on the short side for boarding from the water. Does any extension option exist?

*Craigslist SCAM Alert* Haven't Heard of this Before

I had the same thing happen selling my truck, but I didn't use the website. I don't want to cause you alarm, but you might want to consider closing that credit card account. I don't think it is a kickback program, but a fishing scam. Now that person has your cc info and can charge anything they...
