    Craig's List Seafarer

I flag 30-40 local CL boat ads every day, I would bet this one is legit. 11 pictures, map location matches chart location on boat GPS, registration is local and 2019, matches the bad health story. Nothing like the $1400 Tracker bass boats, with palm trees, stucco houses, and palm trees in rural NC.

    Craig's List Seafarer

New listing in my local NC CL. Looks like a good deal for a fisherman, with a ton of quality tackle included. No affiliation, just passing it forward. https://eastnc.craigslist.org/boa/d/hertford-grady-white-228-seafarer/7309234257.html

Snap in Console cover for 208 Adventure

This is what I think of as a helm cover, which is on my tournament 22, from the top of the windshield, to the back of the seats. I think of a cockpit cover as the same thing, extended to the transom, or from the hardtop to the transom. There are no cut-outs around frame on this style, unless one...

Voyager 248 Correct Outboard shaft length?

I've owned a few single engine, vee hulled GW's, and never had a 30" motor. This is not a time for opinions, call Grady and ask. 252-752-2111

    Braid Shakedown

If you cast a spinning reel, and just start cranking the reel to close the bail, you often put slack line back on the reel for the first couple of turns. It’s a good idea to get used to closing the bail manually. I cast a spinning rod right-handed. My rod tip follows the lure until it is...

First Outing in new to me 2003 Seafarer 228 - Heavy feeling stern - An Update

Don’t know how much fuel was in my boat when this picture was taken, but I'm pretty sure my transom scuppers stay above water.

    228G, What do you think?

Dealers often sell trade-ins, and used boats, on commission, and sellers don’t want to pay $100 an hour for them to fix “simple issues”.

    Braid Shakedown

I doubt that it is coming undone. You could always put a drop of super glue on the knot. I would be concerned that a fish would peck at the long tag end. How long is your leader? Does that connection stay outside of the tip guide, or does it run through on every cast?

First Outing in new to me 2003 Seafarer 228 - Heavy feeling stern

question, are the Grady brackets a solid plate where they attach to the transom, other than the bolt holes, or is that an opening that we have to hope to keep sealed? Also, on the motor end of the bracket, when changing motor height, do you have to get inside the bracket for the bottom bolts, or...

First Outing in new to me 2003 Seafarer 228 - Heavy feeling stern

Don Davis, what was the reasoning behind putting a 30 inch motor on a 228G? Usually, you want that motor up, and 30" starts to prop off 5 inches lower. Mine feels about the same as the OP, if running anything other than on full plane. At slow speeds, I feel that the cowling gasket spends way too...

Cracking around bolt - level of concern?

use a framing square, or a short level, and check to see if the bolt has caused an indentation in the transom, or whether it is still flat. If indented, the bolt may well have been over tightened. The transom may also be soft from water intrusion. You said bolts, so it is more than one spot. The...

    Dead end wires

Last time I had the live well out, I ran across this bundle of wires tied off on the port side, right above that port stringer. Any idea what their original intent was? 2000 SF228.

It finally happened. My new to me 270.

Be a real shame to have to lose that top. It and a good enclosure will extend your season on both ends, in Ohio, far more than a bimini will. That garage is a lot bigger than it looks, if that boat on any trailer goes in, and the door shuts.
