    when stuff goes wrong

Great thread. Always need a backup plan for the backup plan for the backup plan. I picked up a couple sets of these below to keep handy on board: for the event of a through hull or scupper failure. good reminder to test bilge pumps and inspect the boat regularly Almencla 20pcs Marine Boat...

Lewmar V700: Capstan turns, Gypsy does not. Problem Solved - with Pics. A strand of line slid under a non-moving part.

Nice work. Just throwing this out there, even though you no longer need any advice since the problem is solved. one way to make sure no small parts bounce off the boat into the drink is to use a cardboard box - cut a hole in the bottom to fit over the windlass (or whatever else), maybe tape it...

    2007 282 Sailfish

Looks like a beaut. don’t let it go too cheap. Market is still heated and you’ve got a few more months of good weather this year in the Bay. if you want to go out before you unload and need a buddy, give me a shout and I’d happily join for a ride. (I am in Sunset SF) ;)

    1985 Tournament 19

If you have a running engine, it’s not a bad price for what you’re getting. Grease the bearings well on the trailer before moving it, can use a handheld temperature gauge to check the bearings after a few minutes on the road to see if they’re heating up. When you say floor and bulkheads are...

Welcome to the Transom Club... Need help in SW FL

I’d get a better sense of the degree of repair needed. Did you get moisture readings yet? $15k seems excessive. End of season, all the FL guys might just be tied up for a couple months right now with existing customer relationships. You may want to consider expanding your search to a few...

    Grady White Overnighter Pedastal Seats

Couple ideas to try: white vinegar mixed with fresh water in a spray bottle (counteracts salt exposure - salt is basic while vinegar is acidic), or kroil penetrating oil is really effective stuff too. Heat or cold treatment might also help but be careful if you go with a heat torch obviously -...

    The Walk Around Cuddy R.I.P.

I imagine once supply chain and labor issues are sorted a bit they will revisit the whole lineup. I feel like it’s just a quicker build for CC/DC so they can push orders through to dealers in this high demand market period, which won’t last forever.

    Question on how to troubleshoot

It could be as simple as a loose connection. I’d get a cheap voltmeter and follow the wire as best you can. Test at the light like skunk said, test at the switch, and you should be able to narrow into the problem in the wire chain. Led bulbs shouldn’t burn out. If you trailer regularly might...

    Adventure gunnel railing

Seasick and Dennis both bring up great points to consider. On sailboats you see many with netting from the pulpits along the lifelines and stanchions but I think it’s really only effective for smaller pets rather than kids. The rail wouldn’t need to go fully around the boat, could just be a U...

    Adventure gunnel railing

Congrats on both. I think west marine sells kits that you can cut railing pieces to the desired size and structure. Seal the mounts well to the gunnels. And use ideally through bolts rather than screws.

    1995 Grady White 208 Adventure - Pristine

Don’t lower it any more, it’ll sell, and you want room to negotiate. Honestly I don’t think eBay is your best option. Craigslist or Facebook marketplace may result in some more hits.

    Adding new cleats

With double braid you need the right size fid for the size of the line. Three strand you don’t need any special tools.

    Adding new cleats

Three strand is pretty easy to splice. Double braided rope is a little trickier but you can get the hang of it.
