I have the 228 and did not sea trial a 226. I love the open cockpit of the 228 along with the full stern. I guess you have to figure out what you are going to do with the boat and where you are going to run her. I run both lakes here and the ocean and I can tell you when it comes to water...

Thanks...the motor is mounted on the deck or the top of the cabin. I had this problem when I bought the boat and the dealer replaced the motor. I guess I have to access the motor from underneath via the cabin? My question is, and I will ask Grady tomorrow, is this a warranty issue?

I just upgraded to 2 AGM batteries...both have higher cranking capacity than the starting batteries that came with the boat.
