    1978 Hatteras 204-C Overnighter

Congrats on your first rig. The 204 is a versatile platform that is well suited for inshore use. WOT of 3500 ain't right. It should be more like 5000-5500, and with the right prop at that RPM you should be up around 40 mph. Check compression, spark and the dimensions of your prop. Those...

    Cracked Fiberglass Near Transom

Get a second opinion from a well known surveyor in your area. Grady will most likely recommend that it be inspected/surveyed by a pro anyway. If your first surveyor used a rubber/leather mallet to sound the transom, take his report with a grain of salt. That's not the right tool for the job...

Water leaking onto shelf in Sailfish head

If those frame screws are on the outside and you just tightened existing screws you have now compromised the seal on each. I suggest that at minimum you pull them and reinsert with a dab of silicone.

gw204's 227 part out and garage/basement clean out sale

Ack...I thought I had consolidated these part out threads... Yes, I still have the windshield. If Water Bonnet was what Grady used on the '86 boats, then that's what it is. I'll try and get some measurements for you over the next few days.

    Restoring the fish box lids

I disagree. IMO...the biggest problem is they just used a crappy process to build them. Spray gelcoat in a mold and then do a proper layup starting with layers of light mat and then progressing to something heavier. Don't be lazy and stuff the corners and edges with that garbage putty. Glad...

Bow Pulpit Repair Project - Crushed Fore-deck Reinforcement

Re: Bow Pulpit Repair Project - Crushed Fore-deck Reinforcem How are you gonna tie that part in to the existing structure? Seems to me that by not staggering the seams of your and bottom and top laminates and scarfing the core the joint won't be strong enough to withstand the forces that are...

    2003 HPDI 250s

6 overheats and 114 over revs? I wouldn't touch those things!!!

    2003 HPDI 250s

I have no direct experience with HPDI, but don't the 250s have the reputation of being pretty much the worst motor Yamaha ever made? If you pursue, have someone in the area that is very well versed in HPDI motors check them out.

    Tournament instrument panel

They aren't hard to do. I made this one for my brother's old 190 a bunch of years ago: Bought gauges, switches, fuse holders and UV stable Rowmark engraving stock. Had a local trophy shop do the engraving and I cut the holes and did the wiring. Did the same thing with my old 204 as well...

    Chesepeake

I have no firsthand knowledge of the Chesapeake but there's probably a reason why it only lasted a few years whereas the Marlin has been going strong for almost 30.

New to me 1997 228G, Off Season PM

If you are interested I have a full set of Attwood SS thru hulls that I pulled from my 227 project when I parted it out. They got installed, but the boat never made it to the water so they are essentially new. These include: -1-1/8" forward and aft bilge pump -1" port fish box -1" port helm...

    1988 Tournament 19 story

Is the head that's leaking water on the same bank as the blinder with no compression? If so, pull that head off and have a look. You might get lucky and be able to fix your compression issue with a new head and/or head gasket.

Piece of Paper in Fuel Tank

Disconnect the fill hose from the tank and flush it out. Good chance that piece is sitting in there still.

gw204's 227 part out and garage/basement clean out sale

Yep, still available. But now that I've gotten the base off I would like to keep it together with the light. Would you be interested in both?

    spun prop

Not enough info to recommend a new prop but to check for a spun hub (if it's the old style pressed in hub) file a small mark on the inner sleeve and outer hub, reinstall the prop and put it though it's paces. Remove prop and see if the orientation of the marks has changed.

gw204's 227 part out and garage/basement clean out sale

Here's a few pics of the anchor light base. As you can see, the wires are in bad shape. The mounting bracket comes off with 3 screws and exposes more of the inside. I bet you could pop out the contact base and solder new pigtails on. I didn't mess with it though.
