Hard Top, Soft Top or Bimini Top?

GW never offered a factory hardtop on 225s of that vintage, so it will have to be custom made. Hardtops are great, but they add weight, and potentially create issues with storage, low bridges, etc... I had a hardtop on my 226 but the walkaround style seems to support one better. I couldn't...

From GW Brochure, your weights are as follows: Hull: 2075 Motor: 475 Fuel (60 gal): 420 Gear, batteries, water, etc... - approximately 500 So you are at 3400 lbs. If you want to add 10% reserve, you are in the neighborhood of 3700-3800 lbs. In your neck of the woods, the 3 big trailer...

Need New Trailer for 192 Tournament - single or double axle? Type?

A single axle with a 5200 lb axle will give you a net capacity of about 4400 lbs. It will likely have 15 inch tires. LoadRite may not make one....if they don’t keep shopping.

It's listed EVERYWHERE. Needless to say, I don't think I'll need to take the afternoon off to go look at it. :)

    Trailering a 222 Fisherman?

I've towed every 22' GW makes with a variety of tow vehicles (a 5.3 Tahoe, a 6.2 Yukon, a 6.2 Silverado 1500 and now an F-150 with a 5.0) Your Tundra will do just fine....you towed weight will be in the neighborhood of 5500-6K lbs, depending on how much fuel is in the boat at the time.

    Help Me Price My Boat

As someone who owned both a 228 with no hardtop and a 226 with a hardtop, both with 200s, I can tell you that it's a 41 mph boat, trimmed all the way up, turning a Mirage Plus 17 prop. If you plan to pull skiers, you won't be happy. If you are cruising, it's doable. Early F225s were not...

    Help Me Price My Boat

I agree with KY Grady....do what you got to do to get it running. Otherwise, it's going to be priced like it needs a complete repower. My guess is you will need to do the following: Water Pump Batteries VST/Filters Drain fuel tank...check tank and lines/hoses for ethanol damage. Lower...

    new member intro

GW referred to that model as the Sprint 173 if I recall.... Just clicked the link to the brochure...I know too much about Gradys apparently.... Looks to be in excellent shape....congratulations on the find.

Looks good. Stay on top of the care of those rims.....otherwise salt water will dull them in a hurry.

    Information on my engines

Russ - those are 3.3L engines. The "F225TXR" is all you need to be concerned about. A counter-rotating motor will have an "L" in front of it. The "A" and "B" on the end signifies the model year. And Yamaha dropped the year designation many years ago. Folks were getting spooled up about...

    225 tournament wot 35mph

Trim it up...probably to about the 3rd bar on the trim gauge. Your RPMS should jump to 5800-5900. As close to 6000 RPM is where you want to be. Also - are you getting your speed from the speedo in the dash or from the GPS? If the hole on the front of the lower unit that acts as a pitot for...

    Steering Locks

I think it's all the old school ones....I know my old 150 had one because I sheared it off once many moons ago. I'll check my 225 and report back.

    Non Ethanol fuel station

Never heard of Valvtect as a brand but it definitely is an additive. There is "Valero", which is a brand. They do offer Rec 90 at a couple of their stations around here, but there regular / plus / premium fuels have Ethanol in them.

Replacing bilge pumps in a Tournament 225G

Don't try to get in from under the jump seats. Plan on removing the livewell. Once it's out you will have easy access to it.

    Steering Locks

I too use an m-y Wedge. Only one as the old school OXs have a grease fitting that will get busted off if you put one on the starboard ram. I've never needed the clip for a hydraulic steering motor. If your motor is flopping over while trailering, you probably have air in the system that needs...

    232 Gulfstream Questions

OX66 is a great motor. It is thirsty, however. The oil tank brackets notoriously rust out. Easy replacement. I'd replace the fuel filters, VST, change the gear lube, new plugs etc... As Seasick mentioned, fuel quality could be an issue. If the fuel wasn't properly treated before layup, I'd...
