    Trailer Brake Maintence

When I was trailering everywhere in my days of living in Indiana, 3-4 years on a set of brakes was about right. I replaced bearings & seals every year if they were the least bit questionable. I felt the same irritation you do for the same reason. I flushed and rinsed the whole thing and stuff...

how often do you run WOT

Maybe once a year, if that. Once every couple months, I'll run up to 3/4 throttle. 5100-5300 approx, just to keep it cleaned out in there, but only for 20-30 seconds. I'm with Curmudegon; I see no reason to work them hard; Mostly I'm between 3600-3900RPM's. My top cruise is 4400 at 36 MPH, but...

best engine size for seafarer 228

I'm with Strikezone; More power instead of less. I had a Seafarer with a two-stroke 250, circa 1994. Perfect match. Ran 30-33 all day at just under 4000 RPM. Every now and again, I'd open it up and it came in at 47-48 MPH.

    Considering moving up - thoughts?

VeroWing is right about the Seafarer. I had a '92, which I think was the beginning of the Seav2 hull design. Great boat, as he mentioned, but I don't think the trade up will be of any advantage to you on Lanier. All you have to worry about there is boat wakes with the occasional choppy day when...

    Engine Temp Reading While Underway.

Thanks! The replies are appreciated. Between my tech and your answers, it doesn't seem like something to worry about. As long as I'm not causing any engine damage from overheating, I'll carry on.

    Engine Temp Reading While Underway.

My 232 has twin 2006 Yamaha F200's with 754 hrs. on each. I normally run with the display of engine temp, battery and oil on my gauges. You all know, the 3 flat lines with the little arrow above each line that moves right or left, depending on the reading it is indicating. My engine temp, (the...

    journeyman- Marlin Question.

Thanks for the quick get-back! Yeah, numbers would be great when you get the boat out this spring. Just sometime when you think about it..thanks! I am not worried about slightly submerged scuppers; My 232 with twin F200's has the scuppers underwater; it doesn't matter, the cockpit drains fine...

    journeyman- Marlin Question.

Hey journeyman; I noticed in your reply to the bowthruster topic that you list owning a Marlin with 350's. If I ever buy another boat, at this juncture it'll be a Marlin with 300's or 350's. I would appreciate any input you have on the performance/satisfaction level that you have experienced...

Yeah; I moved 2 1/2 years ago...retired and am near Ft Myers. I need to update my member info. Your seller is telling the truth; ever since the end of Feb we've topped 80 and haven't looked back. Sending good wishes/vibes your way for a satisfying sea trial; it doesn't get much more tropical...

Fish/Finatic; Thanks for the replys. I will arrange for the scoping process on my next service. My tech replaces the impellers and checks the pump everytime. I appreciate the insight,. I thought the camera thing was a more involved process than you guys describe. Parth; My boating was...

    F-Tales/Dennis/Seasick/Parthery, etc...

Hey Guys..And anyone else who can provide info; As I've mentioned before, I have 2006 F200's on my 232. The question is simple. Are my engines subject to this widespread corrosion problem? No symptoms yet other than my guy has done an "exhaust flush" or something like that and some crap fell...

    Trailer Guide Poles

Dennis; Awesome. I've never seen the quick-load procedure done with a big boat. No Bail; Getting the trailer set up for the boat is key, as we've discussed. Hope it all goes well.

    Trailer Guide Poles

Hey Dennis; Funny you should mention your electric winch..I got the "back-in-a-little-at-a-time" idea from another old guy with an electric at a ramp near Navy Pier (Chicago.)He used his electric winch and his partner in the truck sunk the trailer slightly each time the winch started to get too...

    Trailer Guide Poles

No Bail; Another perspective here.. My technique is as follows; Like Dennis, I submerge the trailer to approx the top of the fender wells. This leaves the carpeted bunks barely below the surface with the water lapping over them. At this position/level the boat is FORCED to track on the same...

    Opinion, Yamaha F200 4s on a 272 sailfish

Pushing her thru the water is where you'll have a problem if you have one at all . I have heard that the new 4-cyl f200's don't have the low end torque that their 6 cylinder counterparts do. If you run offshore with a load of crew, gear & fuel, you might find the performance marginal and maybe...

    232 vs 265 express

Agree. The 232 is a great rig. I don't fish, but it's a great cruising/anchoring boat also.I don't go out in winds over 15kts unless it's unavoidable and when I am in rough stuff it's stable, safe and rides well. I've had mine for 8 years and plan on many more. I also have no experience with a...

Gulfstream VS Pursuit 247 walkaround/255 offshore

I have an '07 Gulfstream and I think it rides a little rougher than a narrower beam boat of similar length. Ex. My friend has a 258 Journey (Grady) with an 8' 6" beam and his rig rides a bit smoother than mine. Not a lot, but noticeable. That said, I really like my 232 Gulfstream. The xtra...

Bridge claims Radar on trip home

So sorry to read this. I would think insurance should have your back here since it's clearly the Hi-way Dept or States misrepresentation. It may take some haggling, but how could they not reimburse you? They can hardly expect you to stop at every bridge with a tape measure.
