    replacing water intakes/out on hull

I had water showing up in mine last year. I found the seal around my sounder had gone bad. To me 6 gallons is a lot through deck plates, but I suppose it is possible. The way I found mine was to put the boat in calm water and thoroughly check everything below the water line that could possible...

    Grady 258 & 282 input

I trailer my 272 (same hull as 282) without a problem other than height. I use a F350 or diesel Excursion. My wife and I can launch and recover the boat with me doing all of the work. Once you get it down the only thing the second person needs to do is give you hand signals on which direction...

    Repower question on '86 Sailfish

BobP is correct. I have a spare 200 HPDI. It keeps me on the water. I had a trim switch go out during vacation and just pulled one off of the spare motor and kept going while I waited on the new one to be delivered. You can find working spares relativley inexpensive if you are patient.

The mystery of the Grady Wiper wash... (265 express)

My Sailfish has a knob on the lower right hand side that opens and closes a valve to regulate the windshield washer flow. Check the fresh watrer diagram for your boat in the owners manual. if you do not have the manual it can be downloaded from the Grady White website.

    verado repower

If you are looking to buy new, you can still buy the 200HPDI from Yamaha. Great motors all around ands should bolt right up.

    Yamaha 200 HPDI Problem

Service your VST and replace all the filters and strainers (3 under the cowl). I would also service the O2 sensor. That should clear the problem right up. 1600rpm is the "limp home" mode of operation for the HPDI. See the link below for the O2 service. www.boatsetup.com/O2sensor.pdf

    towing

You might want to check on your specs. All GW Sailfish have a 9'6" beam (measured at the max width). The transom is not the widest point of the boat. That may be where the dealer or individual is coming up with the 9' number.

    Question about 200 HPDI

It is not a common characteristic, it should run well at alll rpms. I would check the O2 sensor. There is a procedure online for it, do a Google search. If you follow the procedure you will not hurt your O2 sensor.

how to change gunnel cushioning in my islander268 back deck?

Re: how to change gunnel cushioning in my islander268 back d look on the bottom side of the cushion (mesh area). There should be some metal loops in the mesh, above them is screws. It is a PITA, but I have them off of my Sailfish.

HELP! FOWARD BILGE IS FILLING AT THE DOCK

I had a leak that caused my forward bilge to run while stopped on the water. I found the leak was the thu-hull transducer at the back of the boat. If your grady is like mine the front sits deeper in the water at rest thah the rear does. Check all below water hull penetrations.

4 stroke vs HPDI on a Grady CC

You sell what the market demands, and most people want 4 strokes. Most people think bad fuel economy and lots of smoke are associated with 2 strokes, so that kills demand. Yamaha is just doing what makes good business sence. I do beleive 4 strokes are the future, but I love HPDIs :-)

4 stroke vs HPDI on a Grady CC

Personally, I would lean towards 200HPDIs over the 250s. They are not the same motor. The 250 is a 3.1L block while the 200 is a 2.6l. The 200HPDI has the reputation as being one of the most effecient and reliable motors ever made by Yamaha. Some (not all) 3.1L engines have had issues.

    SCUPPERS ON SAILFISH

    Going to the Keys

Went to the Keys last month. We had no oil then, and I believe you will still be in good shape. There are lots of shallow water snorkel spots in the area. I purchased a Hot Spots map and went to the protected reefs. Last Friday I had to clean oil spots of the Sailfish after a day trip in...
