    Routing Starboard

As it’s the first time I am working with King Starboard, I was curious if anyone has recommendations on router bits used? I am between a Rabbet and Straight bit. Also, any advice would be appreciated. I ended up purchasing a panel fromTAP Plastics and will route the backside so it sits...

    Grady white 228g soft spot

Thanks....Would the soft spot be felt from the top and bottom if the core is compromised? Just trying to understand. I had mine off and inspected it. Thought it was ok.

    Grady white 228g soft spot

Just wondering....when you take the hatch off, do you easily see that the underside are all those squares? I opened up mine and didn’t see any of that, just glassed up....

Remove gas tank hatch on a 305

I just used GE Advanced Silicone in Almond to do the same thing. Blends well with my 2000 228. Just cut the tip off thick to make life easier for you. I used 1.5 of the large tubes

    polish and wax

What products are in the Shurhold System? I’ve taken a look at their site a few times and the system seems to refer to their cleaning accessories or their bucket. I have the 20v Dewalt Cordless random orbital polisher, so looking just for product recommendations.

    polish and wax

I definitely like the Starbrite Marine Polish.... But I noticed my topside needs something a little stronger. Any recommendations? By the walkaround and the front I have a bit of a grey/ dirty look to it even though it was cleaned/ scrubbed well. Is the 3M color restorer any good for that?

    Shakespeare Mariner 8500 antenna

Thanks...I'll stick what I got then and move it to the other side of my hardtop so I can keep it vertically. Due to my mooring whips, I always left it at a 45 degree angle so as not to catch them too much with the antenna

    Shakespeare Mariner 8500 antenna

Regarding Antennas, just learned that I have a Shakespeare Centennial 5101. 8ft, 8db (never looked!) Thoughts of this on an antenna? Sits on top of a hardtop. I know advice in this thread recommended 3db antenna. Curious if I should hold onto this antenna or replace it.

    Starboard Source?

If you are looking for someone to round the edges and any radial corners, look at TAP Plastics. Found they were cheaper than Boat Outfitters when it came to that stuff

Mcgill Rocker switches and Doxit Electrical Contact cleaner

Didn’t realize those are the McGill switches. What year did they switching to the Carling? I have too much this year to do but would like to swap my switches so I knowwhat they are at night. Also, I didn’t know you are in Bayville. Any reason you have a slip in Pt Pleasant.

    How to mount

If you can wait, keep an eye out on WM website. Some of us just bought the GO9 with Active Imaging Transducer and Navionics for 899( back to 1199 now). Think they are the only ones that offer it with Navionics.

Looking for a 1988 Grady White wiring diagram. Sorry put wrong year on earlier post!

It’s in the appendix.... Not wiring, but this was from Grady for my 2000 228.

    How to mount

Take a look at what your physical dimensions are on your current unit vs that of the GO7, GO9 and whatever other Simrad unit you are looking at. When researching, I thought the 7in Lowrance had a similar physical dimension of the GO9. So you may be able to go bigger

Transom Rebuild - The Saga Begins

Any idea why this is not done from the start? Is there a reason not to glass from the start rather than using 4200/5200 or whatever they use??

Looking for a 1988 Grady White wiring diagram. Sorry put wrong year on earlier post!

These are from my 2000 226/228 manual. Pretty sure it’s in the downloadable version on Grady whites website

Stock Grady 8252 Vinyl 1 3/8 inch wide trim with adhesive backing tape for sale.

Any reason why the silicone was a stupid way to fix it? I just removed my livewell and had to peel back a foot to unscrew the hinge. I was hoping to reattach with silicone.

Transom Rebuild - The Saga Begins

I know it’s the last thing on your mind, but maybe look into him reinforcing your transom during the rebuild to potentially handle a heavier engine. Not sure if your Grady was built during the 2 stroke era but something to think through while your spending all this money

    Covers and Antennaes UPDATE

Some folks use pool noodles but I didn’t get around to using one last year. Ended up just laying my 6-8ft diagonally across the hardtop. My Fisher cover has a spot that is reinforced for the rocket launchers, which takes the weight of the cover so the antenna is protected.

    How to mount

Understood - Just remember that the 18.5 is the viewing width. You can install devices in that compartment and have parts of their frame covered/ blocked on a side as it’s not needed/ important. Some people have put a 12in display in there and 2 9in as well.

    How to mount

If your going that route, why not mount it on its stand in the compartment? My 228s compartment opening is about 18.5in long. You should have no issue fitting both inside. Or is the issue that the previous owner already customized that area so you are dealing with holes where they shouldn’t...
