Yamaha F250 vs F350 for the Tournament 275 - Help

Since the boat was built before the F350 was available, did you call Grady to make sure the hull could handle the additional weight concentrated on a single mounting point?

How to tell a wet transom?

That's possible, but my vote goes to a manufacturing defect. Remove the thru hull and inspect the core in that area. You may also have to drill some exploratory holes to see how far (if at all) the water has migrated.

    Gulfstream Cable Boots

You should really remove the bellows entirely, pull all the cables through the holes and into the boat and take proper steps to ensure the transom core is sealed properly because I'm 100% sure it wasn't done right from the factory (just coated with caulking or gelcoat). At the very least, those...

Need to Find Prop Shop in PA/NJ/Del/Maryland

You might be better off just buying a whole new prop. Try going through Merc. prop selector tool to get recommendations for the best prop...and yes, it will be a Merc. prop. What wheel are you running now?

How often does everyone replace their batteries?

I replace them when they no longer hold a charge...regardless of age.

    REPOWERING 25' DOLPHIN WITH BRACKET

Both the Dolphin and Sailfish require 25" motors. Set the engines so that for every 12" of setback from the transom, the anti-ventilation plates are 1" above the hull bottom. My bracketed '93 Sailfish has 25" Yamahas set on the second highest notch. That position seems perfect for the...

Outstanding Boat Surveyor / Northeastern or Midlantic US

That's good to know Jake. Thanks. :) Hopefully I can unload my 252 soon so I'll have a need for a surveyor as well.

    Counter-rotating engines.

You're trouble shifting is most likely due to a toasted shift shaft. Yamaha was using standard steel on those shafts up until the early 90s when they switched to stainless. It's a known issue for them to rust up and snap. Repairs are expensive and labor intensive (gotta pull the...

Which is a better boat for me?

I was leaning towards the Gulfstream because I figured it to be quite a bit lighter than the Sailfish and the 140s would push it much better than 150s would push the larger rig. However, I now see that the it's only like a 500 lb. difference dry. But that doesn't account for the difference...

What items are you sealing? For many things, there are much better products than silicone.

    Engine Designation for Yamaha

OX66. Look at the black label on the front of the cowling. It should say "OX66 Fuel Injection". If not, someone switched cowlings on you or it's a pre'97 motor. Here's my '98 225s.

'93 Sailfish Flush Mount Project - 3/2/08 Update

That's the plan Pete. Pay not attention to that GW190T guy, he's just jealous because my boat doesn't have any stripes... :D :D :D Actually, he's my brother. It's his job to give me a hard time. :)

    Replacing access doors

I always told myself that if something ever happens to those doors, I'm taking the whole stinkin' panel out and fabricating a new panel that has a proper size opening so you can actually get in there and do stuff.

'93 Sailfish Flush Mount Project - 3/2/08 Update

I got the 1/8" roundover done on both panels this morning and then layed out and cut the openings on the upper e-box panel for a trial fit. I have some fine tuning to do prior to mounting, but overall I'm happy with the outcome.

Brake pads for an '02 Suburban 1500 4x4?

What brake pads do you guys recommend for an '02 Suburban 1500 4x4? This is my wife' Burb and it spends most of it's time running the kids back and forth to school, going to the grocery store, etc. We don't really do any towing with it now, but in the future we may do an occastional short...

    looking for advice

Looking closely at that transom shot, it appears to me like there's already been transom work done. The AL strip is gone and the joint appears to have been glassed over. That being said, I still see the crack... :( Also, see if the engines have had the updated stainless steel shift...
